Getting Through the Rough Stuff

Education is one of the greatest avenues that I have received by becoming a Young Living® member and an oily user.  I love this company so much for all that it has given, their leadership has allowed for so much enrichment in our lives.  And not only in the Oily universe.  I have learned so much about ME. About why I do the things I do, why I make the choices that I do, and how to overcome the stumbling blocks.

Now I am not saying that I am completely awesome at overcoming my stumbling blocks! Oh no, no, no. but I have found so many tools to help me overcome the ultimate dream killers: FEAR, SELF DOUBT and LACK OF CONFIDENCE.

Thus far I found two, ultimate tools that have helped me the most.

Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT)

The Aroma Freedom Technique is a step-by-step process for identifying for identifying and releasing negative thoughts, feelings, and memories that interfere with reaching our goals and dreams. AFT is meant to be used as a way to set a person’s emotional energy flowing in a positive direction, towards growth and expansion rather than contracting in fear, doubt, and paralysis. It uses Young Living essential oils to trigger a permanent shift in how we view ourselves and the world.  The practice of AFT has enriched and reset my emotional health. Though leading this process does take certification, those that lead you through this process are not therapists and not doctors.  There is no mandatory discussion about how it makes you feel, you don’t have to explain what you are mentally walking through. They just help you take the steps to get through it.  It is great for those who are very private about their trials. About their emotions. The 5 Second Rule

The second has hands down the most impactful that I have learned. The 5 Second Rule was introduced to me at Convention by Mel Robbins.  By far one of the most riveting speakers I encountered at Convention.  If you have a minute listen to her here: Mel Robbins: The 5 Second Rule

My interpretation of the Five Second Rule is this:

When you are sitting there wondering if it is possible for you to do ______.  And those thoughts are just turning: Are you strong enough? Smart enough?  Do I want it enough? etc. You need to stop that negative thinking in its tracks!  Now, I caution you here.  These are not the moral discussions of if you should do this or that…. because of legality, or morality crises. It is for when you have a goal or plan and you start holding your self back. You can 5-4-3-2-1 your way into action.

When you count backward 5-4-3-2-1 it pulls the idea from the back of your head where it sits and gets picked away at,  to the front of your head where your action center is.  You rid yourself of that doubt and fear long enough to get the ball rolling.  You can set your plans in motion. But it only works if you put it into action! Don’t talk yourself down. You came up with the plan, you know you can do it, just shut up and do it. 5-4-3-2-1!

So what has the 5 Second Rule gotten me lately? I have used 5-4-3-2-1 to gain:

  • My dream house
  • A new purpose
  • A release of a detrimental job that was toxic to my well being
  • An adventure
  • A new occupation
  • This website..

Yep, used that one theory a lot in the last couple of months. So many ways. Phone calls I didn’t want to make. Discussions I didn’t want to be part of but needed to be. Cleaning up dog mess when I really, REALLY didn’t want to. Every day. And it works for me EVERY TIME.

Am I fearless? NOPE. Gosh no. I am still full of fear, self-doubt and negative self-talk about my abilities. However, these two methods get me through all of that nasty abuse I was hitting myself with, to do the things I need to.

So what has 5-4-3-2-1 gotten you through today?
